So I’ve finally signed the contract on that sale I mentioned at the end of last year. Which means it’s time for the big reveal!
Much heralded story (toots own trumpet) will appear in the Defying Doomsday anthology from Australia’s Twelfth Planet Press. It’s an anthology of apocalypse-survival fiction with a focus on disabled characters edited by Tsana Dolichva and Holly Kench. It was funded by a Pozible campaign and is scheduled to appear mid 2016 or thereabouts.
This is all is too exciting for words of course. What a great theme, very much my sort of thing. It has to be my best sale to date in almost every other respect too because it will be coming out in limited edition hardback (drool) as well as paperback and e-book so will look truly splendid on my “brag shelf”. And it’s my longest sale. And perhaps best of all, according to the blog it will include new stories from New York Times bestselling writer Seanan McGuire (aka Mira Grant) as well as from 2014 Hugo Award winner John Chu.
If you haven’t read John Chu’s Hugo winning story “The Water That Falls on You from Nowhere” you really should as it blew me away when I first read it. It’s free to read on Tor.com.
Of course with literary stars like this potentially in the book it’s all slightly intimidating. But I guess we’ll see who my ToC buddies turn out to be. Whoever they are I can’t wait to read all their stories.
Anyhow I shall post again when I have more news. Until then I’m off to happy snappy dance and wear out the carpet.
