Honourable Mention, Writers of the Future

Heard this evening that I’ve gotten an honourable mention for this latest quarter. This is my first from David Farland. Yup, my record since he took over the judging has been far from honourable!

This was a “Gator” story and so rather silly and very different in tone from my others. It was also long. At 16,000 words it’s the longest story I’ve ever written.

I suspect I’ll have to self publish it eventually on account of its length and it being a “superhero” type murder mystery. Who on Earth wants a story like that? I can’t think of a market. There are literally a handful I can send it to and I’m not convinced it’s right for any of them.

Oh well. Onwards!

Penumbra has a super-hero theme coming up but it has to be 3500 words or less.
I really enjoy your comments on the wotf forum.
I’m a Florida Gator fan so I’m easily entertained by gators. story singer.

    • Thanks, Don. Though I expect Penumbra would faint if I sent them my 16,000 word effort and I’m not planning on writing more Gator stories right now (maybe in the future…). It’s a pity, as I did once get a “send more” type rejection from Penumbra but what with the themes and the limited word length I hardly ever have anything suitable to send there.
